Our Childhood Days
Article by Lauren Davidson
Take me back to the days when we’d play in the sand,
Making castles with towers that could barely stand;
Then running to the water to play in the waves,
And swimming to the sandbar when we felt brave.
Take me back to the days when we’d go to the park,
Not wanting to leave even when it got dark;
Slipping down slides and seeing who could swing higher,
Having picnics with every snack we desired.
Take me make to the days when we’d have a playdate,
Getting carried away and wanting to stay late;
Playing games together for endless hours,
Pretending like we had cool superpowers.
Take me back to the days when we simply didn’t care,
When we would dream, when we would dare;
To the days when our imagination ran wild,
To the days when we were “only a child”.
Bring back the wonder we’ve lost along the way,
The curiosity that powered us through each day;
Bring back the fun that has fizzled out,
The sheer joy you had when you didn’t doubt.
As a child you could dream, but now you can do,
Don’t let all those dreams disappear on you;
There’s a child in us all just waiting to be free,
It’s time to bring yours out, don’t you agree?
