2018 UBS Elections

With electionsjust around the corner and the strike upon us, it is important to consider ourfellow UBS candidates for the upcoming 2018 elections. Every year, the UBSreceives over $80,000 in funds to allocate for UBS hosted events including casecompetitions, frosh week, Dean’s Lunch and much more. Although it may seem likethese events are hosted by the University free of cost, a miniscule portion ofstudent tuition is collected to provide these services. As students, it is ourright to elect a group of individuals that can not only put these funds to gooduse but also towards our benefit. By looking over each candidate’s campaign, wemay not be able to predict their future output in the UBS but can make aninformed decision in hopes that they’ll follow through with their specifiedofferings.

At the UBS Speechesevent hosted on March 1st, all candidates took to the stage topresent their pitches while answering any outstanding questions requested bytheir peers. With enormous pressure and fierce competition, all candidatesmanaged to deliver nothing but their best! In an interview conducted withShadab Khan, a candidate running for UBS President, he said, “I really enjoyedparticipating in the presidential debate and listening to the various platformsbeing offered by each candidate. I have no doubt that the student body is ingood hands no matter who wins!”. Although some candidates couldn’t attend dueto their international exchange programs, it is important to give them equalconsideration when voting.
